  Oxidized Silver Wire Earrings
 
 
Hand-crafted by Susan Bryant Caron in Freeport, Maine, these earrings are made using recycled sterling silver. The beads are made entirely of wire coiled around and around itself, creating a compact yet energetic form.

The spiral is a form that takes on many faces in the natural world: snail shells, the chambered nautilus, fingerprints, hurricanes, fiddleheads, and the double helix of our own DNA. The very galaxy we are a part of is arranged in a spiral, solar systems and stars and nebulae revolving around a central axis. The spiral often symbolizes rebirth, continual change, and evolution, and it predates any written language. To the Hopi of the American southwest, the spiral symbolized the broadening of consciousness after a long journey.
