The little boy wiped his mouth on the back of his arm, his fingers dripping with sweet, pink juice from the hunk of watermelon he was trying to conquer. He looked around at all the friendly faces - people of all ages, sizes, and colors who knew his name and loved him - and began wondering if there was anything better or more wonderful in the universe than a block party (a term he only heard for the first time that morning). In the summer breeze, the neighbors plants swayed back and forth. He saw his cat in the window watching a bee sleepily hum from flower to flower. A neighbor passed by and handed him a giant ear of corn and the little boy grinned. Nothing in the whole wide world was better than this.
