     I lived in Maine once. With my grandparents. My grandfather and I our summers in his garden, cultivating freckles, our friendship, and tomatoes, too. His fingers tore at the weeds that crept near his Early Girls and Big Boys, but gently caressed the small green fruits being created out of love and humid days. He reached his hand out for me to breathe in the soil and tomato smell. The tomatoes weren't the only thing he helped flourish that summer.
